July 17, 2020---- Beginning in the coming days, the Tipton Water Department will temporarily modify its water treatment process of disinfection to free chlorine from chloramine (combined) residuals at the water treatment plant. This change in treatment process is performed as an annual maintenance to the distribution system and treatment plant. Chlorine is commonly used in public water systems as a disinfectant and will be monitored closely by our water department personnel to ensure optimum levels are present. Due to the temporary change in the type of chlorine, customers may experience a more noticeable chlorine taste and odor in their tap water. There is no reason for concern. This is due to the switch in chlorine type only. After this procedure is complete, the water department will perform a complete system flush. After the flush is complete, the water department will convert back from free chlorine to chloramines. Please contact the water department at 765-675-7736 with any questions.
