What services do you offer?
Tipton Utilities is a municipally owned utility.  We provide electric power, water and wastewater collection and treatment.
Where are you located?
Our Customer Service Office is located at 210 S. Main Street, Tipton, IN 46072.
When are you open?
The office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. , Monday through Friday.   You may reach us by phone at 765-675-7629 between 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Who do I call with questions about recycling or trash?
The Tipton Street Department handles all questions concerning trash removal in the city.  They are located at 500 Green Street and can be reached by calling 765-675-3331.
What methods of payment do you accept?
There are several options you may use when paying your utility bill.  
They include:  Cash, Money orders, Checks, Cashier checks, Credit card, Debit card or Online banking set up with your bank.
Who do I call to locate utility lines before I dig?
Tipton Utilities is a member of the Indiana Underground Plant Protection Service.

Just call 811 at least "2 Full Working Days" but not more than 20 calendar days prior to the start of your excavation and they will notify Tipton Utilities.
How many days in advance do I need to call to have service turned on/off?
We advise calling in 2 days in advance to accommodate your desired date.

Payments can be mailed to  Tipton Municipal Utilities, P. O. Box 288, Tipton, IN 46072
Where is your Night Drop Box located?
Our Night Drop Box is located at 210 S. Main Street, Tipton, IN.  The Night Drop Box is located just to the right side of our front entry door.
What number do I call in an emergency?
Emergency calls can be taken in the office during regular business hours.   After hours, during weekends and on holidays, emergency calls should be made to  765-675-7629
How can I get on the budget program?
To be placed on a budget you must be a homeowner, have a total electric home, and must have lived in your home for at least twelve months. The billing department will determine what your average monthly bill has been over the past twelve months.  This amount is then set as your budget amount.   If you would like to know what your budget amount would be or sign up for the program please call customer service at 765-675-7629.
Will I be required to pay a deposit? If so, how much will it be?
All customers are required to pay a service deposit at the time of application. The only exception are customers who are homeowners that provide the Utility with a letter of good credit from a previous (3 years or less) utility provider.  The electric service deposit is one-fourth (1/4) of the estimated annual cost of electric service. The water service deposit is $75.
When will the deposit be refunded?
If you are renting a property, the deposit must remain on file until the customer moves out and the final bill is paid in full.  For homeowners who pay deposits, deposits are returned after 12 months of no late payments.  Homeowners  must contact the Utility Business Office to request a refund of their deposit.

How is water measured on my utility bill?
Water is measured by cubic feet.    Equation to figure gallons is a follows:
cubic feet measurement  X 7.48  = gallons used.
