Storm Water - Phase III

This project is currently in the design phase and construction is planned to start this fall (2018). The project is a large interceptor storm sewer which will run from a catch basin near South and West streets along Cicero Creek to the East Treatment Plant.  The current overflow lines which now discharge into Cicero Creek will be directed into this sewer and the water captured will now be disinfected at the wet weather treatment portion of the plant prior to returning to the creek. Once this project is complete, our original nine overflows into Cicero Creek will be reduced to one primary overflow location and possibly one emergency overflow location.

This project is the final phase of our required and approved "CSO Long Term Control Plan". The system will then be monitored to verify we are in compliance.  However, additional modifications may be needed later in the event EPA changes requirements or adds additional requirements.
